AMC's second Mustang contender was the 1968 Javelin which could be bought as entry models or with performance options. AMC followed this success with the AMX which was dropped in 1970 after low sales.

The Javelin remained until 1974 with the hot version now using the AMX name.

This contemporary information includes road and comparison tests, specifications and performance data, driving impressions, upgrading parts list and a small historical section.
