Truck derivatives of the Wagoneer range appeared at the same time as the big station wagon itself, in November 1962. Since 1969 they have been known as J-series trucks. As originally introduced the Jeep trucks were simply utility vehicles.
Bus fashions changed and jeep trucks began to appear with dress-up packages such as honcho, golden Eagle and Custom. The larger-capacity models remained favourite but the smaller trucks became a fashion accessory.
