BMW 3 Series E46 1998-2005 repair manuals

Manuals are available from Haynes (UK), Haynes (USA) and Chiltons (USA).

Both of the USA manuals cover the same models and contents are the same (Haynes now own Chiltons so some manuals are confusingly shared between both brands).

Only six-cylinder engines were available in the USA, so these manuals do not cover the local 4-cylinder 318i or 320i. They do cover 323i, 325i, 328i and 330i and the corresponding coupes and convertible models (also cover the Z4). There's also no mention of Touring models.

The Haynes UK manuals covers many of the models we received here in Australia including some of the 4-cylinder models with 1.9-litre (M43TU) and 2.0-litre (N42) engines – but not the N46. Sedans, wagons (Touring) and coupes are covered, but not the convertible.

Australia didn't get diesel or all-wheel drive models, but neither are covered by the two USA manuals. And none of the manuals cover the compact models specifically, although they do share much with the other bodies.

None of the manuals cover the M3.
